Klipstein Park Gets a Makeover
You may have noticed the improvements being made at Klipstien Park on Adams Street. The improvements were mostly driven by several major factors: One was a donation made by the Beeville Lions Club to install a shade stricture over the existing swing set in the park. The second factor was the deteriorating condition of the existing playground structure that had been a constant concern to the parents who frequently visit the park with their your children. Coincidentally, the playground manufacturer representative came to the city and offered a grant (discounted price) for a new playground structure to make the upgrades/improvements more attractive. Lastly, it was apparent that all the playground structures in the city parks were installed when accessibility  was not a consideration and the City Council has made it a priority that the city needs to provide all-inclusive play structures when purchasing new playground equipment, that are designed for disabled as well as able individuals. The City parks should be designed and improved for all residents, regardless of their physical conditions.

Beeville Lions Club made a donation of approximately $ 30,000 for the shade structure, along with some park benches in 2022. Based on the complaints about the deteriorating conditions of the playground structure, the city removed the playground structure while making recommendation to the City Council to purchase new playground equipment, paid by the Park Improvement Fund, in the amount of over $ 120,000, at the end of last year. This purchase included the playground structure, safety surface, various swings (a total of 4 swing seats) and a park bench. The installation of the playground structure is currently underway and the work should be completed by the end of May.

Additionally, the Beeville Lions Club, in working with the Joe Barnhart Foundation has committed, again, to donate another $20,000 to purchase an all-inclusive merry-go-around. The city has also received a funding commitment from the BEIC (Beeville Economic Improvement Corporation) for the balance of the estimated cost to purchase and install the inclusive whirl. Currently, the city is finalizing the agreement with BEIC, prior to purchasing the whirl. It is anticipated that the order to purchase the whirl will be issued as as as the Beeville City Council approves the agreement between the City and BEIC.
