Job Description:
Summary:
Under the direction of the Finance Director and in conjunction with the Accounts Payable Specialist, this position supports City departments in procuring goods and services in compliance with City policies and state and federal regulations. The Purchasing/Inventory Control Agent is responsible for managing inventory to ensure materials and supplies are available for municipal operations while minimizing costs and waste. The agent will recommend purchasing strategies to secure the best value for the City.
Key Responsibilities:
- Issue purchase orders in compliance with local government regulations.
- Coordinate with department heads to forecast and fulfill inventory needs.
- Maintain and update inventory records, ensuring accountability and transparency.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to reconcile discrepancies and address shortages.
- Monitor and restock inventory for municipal operations, including public works and utilities.
- Pick up and deliver parts, supplies, or materials to job sites as needed.
- Assist with vendor contracts, documentation, and invoice payments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License or alternate transportation.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication, including accurate data entry.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, ERP solutions, and standard office equipment.
- Strong organizational skills for managing inventory records.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move within office environments and travel to various sites.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate computers and related equipment.
- Clear communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds for routine inventory tasks.
