JOB SUMMARY:

The Utility Billing Coordinator processes the monthly utility billing, including late notices for water, sewer, garbage services, and all applicable fees in a timely manner. Coordinates with the meter reader’s’ Supervisor reading and disconnect dates. You will be an essential point person for the overall utility billing operations. Dependability, integrity, analytical thinking, initiative, cooperation, persistence, and tolerance of stress are also core elements. Work is performed under the supervision of the Utility Administration Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Main daily function is serving as a cashier where you will be answering phones, directing calls, and processing payments or security deposits

    • Receive payments from all City Departments – Post payments as customers come in to pay

  • Set up new utility accounts (Meter Deposits)

  • Set up and issue work/service orders on Water & Sewer Taps and monitor status

  • Daily Close-out Reports:

    • Balance Receipts & Cash Collections

    • Balance receipts – Kiosks Payments (Not active currently but may in the future)

    • Balance Receipts – Municipal Court

    • Balance Receipts – Golf Course

  • Process the monthly billing of water, sewer, garbage, and all applicable fees to utility customers

    • This includes the monthly red (late) bills

  • Coordinate with Meter Readers to get reads for accounts that are not reading in our AMI system

  • Check & disconnect Delinquent Accounts

  • Download meter readings through our AMI system (Harmony)

    • Upload weekly to our AMI system to update meters and accounts

  • Assist customers in the understanding of the utility bills.

  • Adjust, debit, or credit to customer’s accounts when asked by the Utility Administration Supervisor

  • Verify daily utility, golf, kiosk (when implemented), and municipal court cash posting

  • Review and update utility accounts for winter averaging annually

  • File work orders or deposit cards as needed

  • Bill funeral homes monthly for police escorts

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Director

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication with accurate spelling and data entry

  • Ability to prepare records, reports, and other documents neatly and accurately

  • Operate standard office equipment including copier, Billing Software, AMI Software, cash registers, typewriter and computers

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Basic Computer knowledge

  • Ability to problem-solve

  • MINIMUM REQUIRES FOR EMPLOYMENT: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Valid TX Driver’s License or available alternate means of transportation.

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background investigation

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication with accurate spelling and data entry

  • Ability to move about an office or building. Ability to transport self from building to building and to attend various functions and meetings at other sites either within or outside the City.
