Job Description:
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, Lifeguards ensure the health, safety, and well-being of patrons at the Beeville City Pool facility while striving to exceed customer service expectations.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor all pool activities to prevent injuries during operational hours.
- Enforce and uphold pool rules and regulations, cautioning swimmers about unsafe practices and hazards to maintain order in the pool and surrounding areas.
- Follow emergency action plans and procedures, administer First Aid as necessary.
- Rescue swimmers in distress and promptly contact emergency medical personnel in case of serious injuries.
- Collect applicable pool admission fees and assist in the concession stand when scheduled.
- Manage pool parties by checking in members and guests at the gate.
- Perform occasional pool maintenance tasks such as vacuuming and drain cleaning.
- Inspect the facility regularly to ensure cleanliness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient swimming skills.
- Ability to administer First Aid, CPR, and other life-saving techniques.
- Strong observational abilities and exceptional customer service skills.
- Capability to respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Familiarity with rules and regulations governing conduct at Beeville public pools.
- Skill in addressing patrons’ questions and concerns professionally and diplomatically.
Minimum Requirements for Employment:
Education, Experience, and Certification:
- Must possess current Lifeguard Certification on the first day of employment.
- Minimum age requirement of 15 years or older.
- Must hold a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for Lifeguards (CPR for Lifeguards) Certificate on the first day of employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Expectations:
- Arrive punctually and ready for assigned shifts.
- Clearly explain and enforce pool rules.
- Monitor designated areas for potential hazards.
Physical Requirements:
Environment:
Work involves exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments; may work independently or as part of a team; may travel between sites; may encounter noise, dust, inclement weather, and potentially hostile environments. Extended periods of outdoor work.
- Ability to move within an office or building, and travel between buildings and various sites for meetings and functions within or outside the City.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate computer, telephone, and related equipment with or without accommodation.
- Clear speech and hearing, or other communication capabilities, to effectively communicate with others.
- Sufficient vision or observation skills, with or without accommodation, to review electronic or hardcopy materials.
- Adequate personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform tasks within a general office environment, including standing/walking, sitting, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, and bending.
