Job Summary:
The Utility Worker performs unskilled or semi-skilled tasks under the direction of the Crew Foreman. Responsibilities include repairing and maintaining water and sewer lines, operating equipment, and performing general labor tasks.
Essential Functions:
Repair and install water and sewer lines, including making taps and laying pipe.
Perform new or replacement utility line installation.
Conduct miscellaneous manual labor, including using shovels and rakes.
Assist with concrete work.
Serve on standby crew as needed.
Perform mowing and weed-eating tasks.
Additional Responsibilities:
Conduct minor repairs to equipment and fences.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Maintain regular and consistent attendance in a workplace environment.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to identify and address basic issues and report findings to the foreman.
Follow instructions and execute tasks as directed by supervisors.
Equipment Used:
Power tools, hand tools, and air tools.
Pneumatic hand tamping tools.
City trucks and other vehicles.
Requirements:
Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and nights as necessary.
Obtain a TCEQ Grade "D" Water Distribution License within the first year of employment.
Obtain a Water "C" License and Wastewater Operations "C" License within three years of employment.
Maintain required licenses and complete necessary Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for renewal.
Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses may result in termination.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid Texas Driver’s License or alternative transportation availability.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.
Physical Requirements:
Work primarily outdoors with exposure to inclement weather and loud machinery.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in traffic areas as needed.
Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform job tasks.
Clear communication skills, vision, and hearing necessary to complete job duties effectively.
Mobility to travel between work sites as needed.
