Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Golf Course Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the grounds and equipment of the golf course to ensure high standards of appearance and functionality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Mowing turf using various equipment including greens mowers, tractors, and backhoes.
- Repairing sprinkler heads, mowers, tree trimmers, and addressing water leaks.
- Trimming trees and applying chemicals such as fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides.
- Training new employees on golf course maintenance tasks.
- Performing mechanical work on golf course equipment and irrigation systems.
- Recognizing and managing pests and diseases affecting turf.
- Conducting routine ground maintenance duties.
- Operating and repairing all types of turf equipment.
- Troubleshooting underground electric sprinkler controllers.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

- Maintaining the overall appearance of the golf course, including greens, trees, fairways, and irrigation systems.
- Applying chemicals to turf for pest and disease management.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL WORK HABITS:

- Regular and punctual attendance in a workplace environment.
- Ability to work alternating weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.

- 30 hp New Holland Tractor with Mower
- 100 Gal. 7 hp pull-behind sprayer
- Toro Chemical Sprayer
- ½ Ton Pickup Truck, Turf Trucksters
- Weed eaters, chain saws, power hand tools, etc.
- Backhoe, Wind gauge, sod cutter

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Proficiency in chemical applications.
- Problem-solving abilities related to turf and irrigation systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION:

- High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 3-4 years of general golf course maintenance experience.
- Valid TX Driver’s License or available alternate means of transportation.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM with scheduled alternating weekends and holidays.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background investigation.
- TDA Noncommercial Political Applicator Certificate.
- Ability to problem-solve effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Involves strenuous physical work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing 50-100 pounds.
- Exposure to hazards and physical risks, requiring adherence to safety precautions.
- Work in extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain).
- Exposure to toxic chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, and various fuels.
- Ability to move about in various environments and operate equipment.
- Sufficient manual dexterity, clarity of speech and hearing, and visual acuity.
